Sept 17, 2020:
Dear All American H.O.G. Members,
What keeps every HOG chapter functioning is the slate of Officers and the Director who leads them; they help provide a diverse selection of rides and other activities that is the reason any H.O.G. chapter exists as well as effective communication that ensures all members feel included in the group.
As your chapter’s Director, Beth was looking forward to putting the experience she had gained in her early work as the director to use this year, her last as Director, to provide what she had hoped would be the best year ever for AAHOG...then COVID upended 2020 and we have had the strangest year ever.
In a more normal year, the rides and other activities that allow many of us to gather and ride also provide opportunities to look for and recruit future leaders for the chapter and for members to consider stepping into those future roles but sadly those opportunities have been far fewer this year. Still, come November we will be electing a new Director and choosing some new officers so now is the time for you to consider whether you would like to help AAHOG continue to grow and continue to provide the kind of camaraderie that comes from getting out in the wind and enjoying our Harley-Davidsons together.
Serving as an Officer provides fun, camaraderie, and personal satisfaction that, for the majority of those who have served, far outweighs the work that goes along with the position.
Serving as an officer also gives you a view of the Director position and of HOG in general that is invaluable if you ever wish to serve as Director.
Most Officer positions need no special experience, just a desire to help your chapter and a willingness to work with other members and our sponsor, All American HD, to do so.
Want to know more about becoming an Officer or Director? Reach out to anyone in one of those positions now or just drop a note to firstname.lastname@example.org
2021 can be a great year, and it starts with you!
The All American HOG Chapter is located in Hughesville, Maryland, about 35 miles southeast of Washington, DC. We are sponsored by All American Harley-Davidson, Hughesville, Maryland.
The All American H.O.G. Chapter was Chartered July 12, 2002.
Our first Chapter meeting was held on August 29, 2002, at the Mechanicsville Moose Lodge. We had 175 people show up for the first ever meeting of the All American H.O.G. Chapter! If you were there... thank you.
There was food and drink, some fantastic door prizes were given away, a huge 50/50 raffle was won, and a few other surprises were sprung on those who attended. Best of all, we had a great time and collected quite a few names for volunteer positions. At the close of that meeting, Chapter membership approached 200! Our thanks and appreciation to our sponsor, and all the staff of All American Harley-Davidson!
Anyone joining the Chapter through September 30, 2002, was considered a Charter member of the Chapter. As of the end of the membership recruitment period, we had 348 Charter members. As of the end of 2012, we had 74 remaining Charter members.
Our monthly meetings are normally held on the third Thursday of each month at 7:00 p.m. They are normally held at the American Legion Post 238 in Hughesville, Maryland. Dates and location can be confirmed by checking our calendar of events or contacting any Chapter officer. Come early to enjoy the complimentary pizza provided by our sponsor.
